Our trip to Subic happened last February, but it was only now that I get to write about it since I’ve been busy the past few months. On this trip, Tep and I agreed to book everything on a budget, that is why I spent a lot of hours checking various websites to look for an affordable yet nice hotel for a family of four, where we will spend 4 days and 3 nights.
While browsing Agoda, I saw Grand Hoyah Hotel, which offers free cancellation with free breakfast plus with good reviews. Upon seeing the photos, I learned that the hotel was a bit old already and it does not have a swimming pool. But since we have a lot of activities planned for 4 days and we wont be spending a lot of time at the hotel, I thought that this would be perfect.
The hotel is located at Canal Road which is a few blocks away from the SBMA beach. We didn’t have a hard time finding it and what’s good was there’s an ample parking right beside the hotel. Check in went smooth and the staffs were friendly and accommodating. They also have a cute elevator and my kids were so amazed with it.
We got the Deluxe king room which was surprisingly huge and spacious. There’s a king sized bed with a couch on the side. We were able to squeezed in ourselves to the bed as my two kids are still small.

There’s a mini kitchen with an electric stove, refrigerator and electric kettle. Mini bar was also present, though you need to pay of course in case you will consume any of it. Complimentary coffee and water were provided. At the bedside table there’s this old school phone and my kids were so amazed. Our room also got a small balcony, though what you can see are mainly the other hotels nearby. But this is a good place to have a coffee or some drinks.

The bathroom was big and clean. The basic amenities were provided such as toothbrush with toothpaste, soap, shampoo, tissue and towels.

Included on our stay was a plated breakfast set for two. We chose from their menu and this can be availed at their restaurant or can be served in the room. Apart from the plated set, they also have a mini breakfast buffet at their restaurant where you can get arroz caldo, soup, variety of breads, noodles or pasta and fruits. Various drinks are also available such as juices, milk tea, iced tea, iced coffee and soya milk. You can also make your own coffee or chocolate drink.

They serve lunch and dinner at their restaurant and they also offer shabu shabu. We didn’t get to try this though, but we were able to order from their room service. The serving was big for one person and the food was good.

We had a great time staying at the Grand Hoyah Hotel. Since our room was spacious, the kids were able to play and run around inside. The staffs of the hotel were accommodating and nice. Will definitely recommend this hotel in case you are looking for a budget yet nice place to stay in Subic.
